About the role and school


We are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in North London from September 2026.

This SEN Teaching Assistant role will involve supporting a small group of KS2 students with Autism (ASD).


The successful SEN Teacher Assistant will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide consistent, personalised support and help students access learning in a positive and structured environment.

You will play an key role in supporting pupils' behaviour, confidence, communication and independence.


This SEN Teaching Assistant position would suit someone with the relevant experience working in a similar role within the UK education sector who is confident supporting pupils with ASD.


Job Responsibilities



  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to autistic pupils, helping them access learning and participate in lessons

  • Support communication and interaction using visual aids, communication systems and clear, structured instructions

  • Assist pupils with sensory needs and emotional regulation, including anxiety, distress, transitions and changes to routine

  • Support the implementation of EHCP targets, personalised learning plans and individual interventions

  • Promote independence, confidence and social development, encouraging pupils to develop learning and life skills

  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, parents and other professionals to provide consistent and effective support


Qualifications/Experience



  • Relevant experience working in a similar SEN Teaching Assistant role within the UK education sector is essential

  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills

  • Previous experience supporting pupils with ASD is highly desirable

  • Valid Enhanced DBS Certificate on the Update Service is essential

  • Right to work in the UK
