About the role and school


Teach Plus are currently working with a supportive primary school in Tower Hamlets who are looking to appoint a strong and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant for an ASAP start.


This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant who is confident supporting pupils with additional needs and wants to secure a long-term position within a welcoming primary school.


The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will be expected to provide high-quality support both within the classroom and on a 1:1 or small-group basis where required.

You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team to ensure pupils receive consistent support throughout the school day.


The school is looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant who is reliable, proactive and able to build strong relationships with pupils.

Experience supporting autism, ADHD, challenging behaviour or complex learning needs would be particularly advantageous.


Job Responsibilities



  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND.

  • Support pupils to access the curriculum and classroom activities.

  • Implement individual strategies and support plans.

  • Assist pupils with communication, social and emotional development.

  • Support positive behaviour and emotional regulation.

  • Encourage independence and confidence.

  • Adapt activities and resources to meet individual needs.

  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO.

  • Build strong and positive relationships with pupils.

  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive and supportive classroom environment.


Qualifications/Experience



  • Previous UK school experience is essential.

  • Strong SEN experience is highly desirable.

  • Experience supporting autism, ADHD, SEMH or complex needs would be advantageous.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Patient, resilient and consistent approach.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.

  • Strong understanding of safeguarding.

  • Valid DBS on the Update Service is desirable.
