Offline CADCAM Programmer

CAD/CAM Programmer

Location: Havant, Hampshire
Salary: £42,000-£53,000 DOE

Are you an experienced Offline CAD/CAM Programmer looking for your next challenge within a precision engineering and advanced manufacturing environment? We're recruiting for both an experienced programmer and a senior level professional to join a busy manufacturing team, supporting the production of complex, high precision components.

These opportunities are ideal for individuals with a strong CNC machining background, excellent offline programming skills and experience working with multi-axis machining equipment.

Whether you're looking for a hands-on programming role or a position where you can take the lead on programming activities and mentor others, there is an opportunity to suit your experience.

The Role

Working within a low-volume, high-precision manufacturing environment, you will be responsible for developing accurate and efficient offline CNC programmes to support production requirements, ensuring components are manufactured to the required quality standards and delivered on time.

Depending on your experience, responsibilities may include:

  • Creating offline CNC programmes for 5-axis CNC vertical mill/turn machines and other CNC equipment.

  • Interpreting engineering drawings and programming directly from solid models.

  • Producing accurate tooling documentation, set-up sheets and work-holding solutions.

  • Optimising machining processes, reducing programming times and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Working closely with machinists and production teams to resolve technical issues and ensure efficient manufacturing operations.

  • Working with a range of challenging materials, including Inconel 625, Duplex stainless steel and other specialist alloys.

  • Maintaining high standards of quality, health and safety, and ensuring manufacturing processes meet required standards.

  • Supporting cross-training and the development of colleagues, with opportunities for experienced candidates to coordinate workloads, delegate tasks and mentor junior team members.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong experience in CNC programming within a manufacturing or precision engineering environment.

  • Proficiency in Edgecam, Mastercam or similar offline CAM programming software.

  • Experience with 5-axis machining and mill-turn techniques.

  • Knowledge of Mazatrol, including Matrix CAM 2 and DX software/control programming.

  • Experience using Solid Edge or a similar CAD system.

  • Strong knowledge of modern tooling, work-holding and fixture design.

  • The ability to interpret engineering drawings and work from 3D solid models.

  • A practical, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving and communication skills.

  • An understanding of health and safety requirements and continuous improvement principles.

An apprenticeship or machinist background would be advantageous, as would an HNC/HND in an engineering-related discipline.

Relevant industry experience will also be considered.

Experience with Vericut or other collision detection software, ISO programming and SAP would be beneficial.

Senior-Level Opportunity

For candidates with extensive experience, there is also scope to take on a more senior, hands-on position, overseeing programming activities, planning and prioritising workloads, improving programming efficiency and supporting the development of junior team members.

Candidates interested in this level should ideally have substantial CNC programming experience, strong technical expertise and the confidence to lead by example within a production environment.

What's on Offer?

  • Salary of £42,000-£53,000, depending on experience and level of responsibility.

  • The opportunity to work within a technically challenging, high-precision engineering environment.

  • A hands-on role with scope to contribute to manufacturing improvements and process optimisation.

  • Opportunities to develop your technical expertise and take on greater responsibility.

If you're an experienced CNC Programmer with a background in offline CAD/CAM programming and multi-axis machining, we'd love to hear from you.
