THE OPPORTUNITY:

Enjoy the technical side of broking: understanding complex risks, negotiating with insurers and getting the placement right?

Get Recruited is partnering with a small independent insurance brokerage to recruit a Senior Commercial Broker in Glasgow.

You'll support Account Executives on corporate insurance programmes for clients whose annual premium spend typically runs into six or seven figures.

This would suit a Corporate Insurance Broker or Senior Commercial Account Handler who wants to focus on technical work and insurer relationships.

The Account Executives manage the client relationships, leaving you to concentrate on renewals, market negotiations and placement.

The team brings experience from larger brokerages into a smaller independent setting, with an emphasis on technical knowledge and personal service.

THE SENIOR COMMERCIAL BROKER ROLE:

Drawing on your experience as a Corporate Insurance Broker or Senior Commercial Account Handler, you'll:

• Coordinate complex corporate renewals, working with Account Executives to assemble the information insurers need and keep placements moving to deadline.


• Prepare detailed market presentations, setting out risk exposures clearly and responding to underwriting queries.


• Negotiate with insurers on premiums, cover, conditions and exclusions, assessing the suitability of the terms available.


• Work on substantial construction risks alongside other complex commercial cases, handling programmes with significant annual premium spend.


• Broker covers including Professional Indemnity, Public Liability, Employers' Liability and Contractors All Risks.


• Review quotations, policy wordings and documentation, identifying discrepancies or coverage issues for resolution.


• Develop productive insurer relationships and provide Account Executives with clear technical information to support their client discussions.


• Use Acturis proficiently to manage records, renewal activity and placement documentation accurately.

THE PERSON:

• Experience as a Senior Commercial Broker, Corporate Insurance Broker or Senior Commercial Account Handler, handling corporate or complex mid-market business.


• Comfortable working with substantial premiums and technically demanding renewals.


• Construction insurance experience would be particularly useful, although strong experience with other complex commercial risks will also be considered.


• Strong insurer negotiation skills and confidence discussing underwriting requirements, policy terms and cover.


• Very proficient in Acturis, with the accuracy and organisation needed to manage detailed insurance records.


• Able to work closely with Account Executives while taking responsibility for the technical broking work.
