Harper May is working with a founder-led media and events operator that produces large-scale conferences and exhibitions across Europe.

The business has grown steadily over the past five years and is now backed by a small group of strategic investors.

It currently runs circa 40 events annually, with a team of around 80 across operations, production, and commercial functions.

The leadership team is strengthening the finance function to improve real-time visibility into project profitability and working capital management.

They are now seeking a Management Accountant to join the finance team.

The Role
You will report to the Finance Director and own the preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements.

The position sits at the centre of the business, interfacing with project managers, ops teams, and the board to translate activity into clear financial narrative.

You will manage the monthly close cycle, support both long-range and rolling forecasts, and help senior leaders understand performance against plan in a multi-project environment.

• Produce monthly management accounts, including consolidated P&L, balance sheet, and cash position reporting
• Build and maintain project-level profitability reporting, tracking revenue and costs against agreed baselines
• Conduct variance analysis and identify material deviations from forecast, with clear reasoning and commercial context
• Support annual budget preparation and quarterly reforecasting, working with project leads and department heads
• Prepare financial commentary and dashboards for senior stakeholder review and board reporting
• Monitor working capital, helping to manage cash timing across the event calendar
• Liaise with external audit and ensure compliance with statutory and group reporting obligations

What we are looking for

• ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified, or part-qualified with demonstrable commitment to completion
• 2-4 years as a Management Accountant or in a similar financial reporting or planning role
• Comfortable with multi-entity or project-based accounting, ideally in media, events, or professional services
• Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems; exposure to Sage, Xero, or similar platforms is helpful
• Ability to interpret data quickly and communicate findings to non-financial audiences
• Organised, methodical approach to month-end close; comfortable with tight deadlines
