First City Care Group is recruiting experienced and confident Care Assistants to join our Short-Term Homecare (Front Door) Team.
This specialist, recovery-focused service supports people in their own homes following illness, hospital discharge or changes in health.
Unlike long-term care, this is a time-limited service designed to help individuals regain independence, rebuild confidence and achieve personal goals.

About the Service
Our Short-Term Homecare Team provides temporary support to help people:
Remain safely at home during periods of increased difficulty
Recover after a fall, illness or operation
Regain confidence following hospital discharge
Live well with progressive illness, including end-of-life support
You will actively support individuals to rebuild daily living skills, increasing independence as they progress.
Working Hours
We are particularly keen to hear from drivers available for late shifts:
Early: 7:00am - 2:30pm
Late: 3:30pm - 11:00pm
Long Day: 7:00am - 2:30pm and 3:30pm - 11:00pm
Late shift availability (3:00pm - 11:00pm) is a priority, although early shifts are also required.
This is a community-based role, so flexibility and willingness to travel across Swindon and surrounding areas is essential.
The Role (Community Based - Driving Essential)
You will provide short-term, recovery-focused support, adjusting care as individuals progress.
Your role will include:
Supporting people to relearn and rebuild daily living skills
Encouraging independence rather than completing tasks for them
Working flexibly within 2-hour visit windows
Adapting support daily based on recovery and changing needs
Collaborating with therapists, healthcare professionals and internal teams
This is a dynamic role where your professional judgement, confidence and experience will be highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
Personal care, mobility support, meal preparation and medication assistance
Encouraging and enabling independence at every opportunity
Monitoring recovery and responding appropriately to changes
Completing accurate digital care notes
Maintaining clear communication with colleagues and professionals
Delivering respectful, compassionate and person-centred care
What We Are Looking For
Previous experience in homecare, reablement or support work
Confidence working independently in the community
NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (preferred but not essential)
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential)
Willingness to travel across Swindon and surrounding areas
