A unique fostering organisation are looking for a Supervising Social Worker for their specialist fostering service covering Somerset.
This is a permanent and full-time position with hybrid working available, with office bases across Taunton, Yeovil, Shepton Mallet and Bridgwater.
You will be required to be in the office in Bridgwater two days a week.
You must have a Diploma/Degree in Social Work and have the right to work in the UK (no VISA sponsorship available).

The fostering team supports more than 30 children and young people across Somerset and neighbouring counties, helping children remain close to their families, communities, and support networks.

About the job
Supervising and supporting a small caseload of 4 to 5 foster carers
Building strong and supportive relationships with foster carers through regular supervision and guidance
Supporting carers to deliver high-quality, trauma-informed care
Contributing to the recruitment, assessment, and ongoing development of foster carers
Working collaboratively with children's social workers and multi-agency partners
Ensuring practice consistently meets fostering legislation and National Minimum Standards
Supporting the ongoing growth and development of the high needs fostering service
About you
The successful candidate will have a social work degree with post qualification experience within fostering or children's social work whilst having an up-to-date understanding of relevant fostering legislation and regulations.
You must be registered with Social Work England, hold a full UK driving licence, and be able to travel across the Somerset area when required.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Primary duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to)
Assist with loading the truck according to the bills of lading.
The truck should be loaded in the order that best accommodates deliveries/stops.
Deliver material/orders to the customer's location as directed
Assist in unloading at the customer site, if required, and have the customer sign a proper acknowledgment of delivery
Pick up empty drums/pallets as instructed and unload empty drums upon return to the facility
Ensure picking/shipping orders are pulled and packed within the time frame specified on the appropriate company document/pick ticket
Ensure materials received during the day are entered/received the same day and the appropriate paperwork is relayed to the correct departments
Ensure the warehouse is replenished daily
Maintain accurate inventory levels at all times
Maintain the work area in a neat and orderly fashion
Experience and Education Required
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Exposure to pick, pack, receiving, shipping, and Hazardous Material knowledge operations preferred
Prior experience working within a manufacturing environment preferred
Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
Acceptable driving record for the past seven years as required by DOT
Current CDL License with Hazmat endorsement

Due to continued growth, the business is looking to hire a skilled and detail-focused Manual Machinist (Turner) to support this pivotal stage of expansion.
The Role
As a Manual Machinist, you will be responsible for the manufacture of high-precision metal components using manual lathes and milling machines, ensuring all parts are produced to tight tolerances, engineering drawings, and strict quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate manual lathes and milling machines to produce precision components
- Machine small metal parts to exact engineering specifications
- Work to tight tolerances and high-quality finish standards
- Read and interpret engineering drawings accurately
- Carry out basic inspection of completed components
- Use measuring equipment including verniers, micrometers, and bore gauges
- Complete relevant production and quality documentation
- Ensure compliance with all health & safety procedures at all times
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience operating manual lathes and milling machines
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings and machining principles
- Ability to work to very tight tolerances with excellent attention to detail
- Experience within a machine shop or precision engineering environment (desirable)
- Strong commitment to quality and safe working practices
- Reliable, self-motivated, and detail-focused
- Occasional travel to client sites may be required (planned in advance, expenses covered)
- Due to location, a full driving licence is required

Due to continued growth, the business is looking to hire a detail-driven and proactive Quality Inspector to support this pivotal stage of expansion.
The Role
As a Quality Inspector, you will be responsible for inspecting precision components and sub-assemblies, ensuring compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and strict quality standards.
You will play a key role in supplier quality management, non-conformance investigation, and driving a “right first time” culture across the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect components and sub-assemblies against engineering drawings and specifications
- Use a range of metrology equipment including CMM and Faro Arm systems
- Raise and manage non-conformance reports (NCRs) and ensure timely resolution
- Conduct root cause analysis and support corrective action activities
- Communicate quality issues effectively with suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Support and carry out Initial Sample Inspection Reports (ISIR) and First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR)
- Apply appropriate AQL inspection plans based on supplier performance and product criticality
- Maintain inspection records and update ERP systems accordingly
- Monitor supplier performance and support supplier audits and KPI reviews
- Promote continuous improvement across supplier quality processes
- Work to ISO 9001:2015 standards and ISO 2859-1 sampling procedures
- Identify and document deviations from drawings and specifications
Candidate Profile
- Experience working within a machine shop or precision manufacturing environment (3+ years minimum)
- Strong understanding of quality tools and methodologies (SPC, AQL, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T
- Experience working with suppliers on quality issues and corrective actions
- Confident using inspection and metrology equipment (CMM, Faro Arm, etc.)
- Strong communication skills with a proactive, problem-solving approach
- Detail-focused with a strong understanding of tolerances and inspection standards
- Experience with welding and fabrication processes
- Background in high-precision engineering environments
- Degree, HNC, or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or related discipline
- Occasional travel to client sites may be required (planned in advance, expenses covered)
