- Proven electrical, pneumatic, or mechanical experience within the automation industry.

- Participate in internal design reviews on existing or potential projects.
- Collaborate with other Mechanical and Electrical teams and community members.
- Develop handover documentation for the commissioning team and assist with fault finding.
The Right Person
The successful Software Design Engineer will possess the following skills
- Degree in relevant engineering discipline or equivalent recognised qualifications.
- Proven electrical, pneumatic and mechanical experience within the automation industry.
- Ability to follow electrical and pneumatic schematic diagrams and drawings.
- Comprehensive knowledge of diagnostics, test and repair of electronic/electrical and mechanical systems.
- Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and applicable regulations and guidelines.
- Programming experience of PLCs/HMIs.
Primarily Rockwells suite of automation software, but knowledge of Mitsubishi, Siemens, B&R, and Codesys would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of script-based programming would be an advantage.
- In depth knowledge of Motion Control and 6 Axis Robot systems.
- Experience with robotics, AI and machine learning.
- Solid understanding of computer programming and software development.
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment and perform complex system tests.

My client is an established firm in the specialist waste management sector, due to continuous growth they are looking for a Field Service Engineer to install, service and maintain their equipment on various sites across the UK.
The ideal candidate locations could include Liverpool, Manchester, Chester, Runcorn, Wigan, Leigh, Ellesmere Port or surrounding areas.
Other job titles could include Service Technician, Mobile Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, Multi-skilled Engineer or Field Engineer.
The Role - Field Service Engineer
- Conduct PPM, servicing, and fault diagnosis on-site for recycling equipment, including compactors and balers.
- Participate in hands-on field training with our experienced engineering team, gaining valuable exposure to our equipment and reporting systems.
- Perform warranty repairs and accurately document each service call.
- Ensure all service reports are completed with precision.
- Maintain correct stock levels in your service van to ensure youre fully equipped for each job.
Candidate Requirements: Field Service Engineer:
- Previous experience within a mobile/ field-based role.
- Has experience of fault-finding on plant machinery - conveyors, compactors, balers, crushers or similar
- Holds an Engineering qualification or has equivalent time-served experience
- Knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems is essential.
- Electrical fault-finding skills.
- Ability to interpret electrical and hydraulic diagrams
- Willingness to travel and stay away from home when required.
- Must have a full driving licence.
Salary / Package: Field Service Engineer
- 39.25 hours per week: Mon-Thurs 8am-5pm, Fri: 8am-3:30 pm
- Salary: £19.50-£22 per hour depending on experience (£40k-£45k per annum)
- On-call rota, 1 in 4 weekends - £100 per weekend
- 29 days holiday (inclusive of bank holidays)
