Senior Consultant (Capital Modelling)

Job Description:

Our client, a leading financial services company, have an exceptional opportunity for a senior individual to take on a role within their award-winning Insurance & Financial Services practice.

The role will be focussed on supporting their insurance and reinsurance clients with capital modelling.


This is a permanent position and can be based out of London, Edinburgh or Glasgow.



Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Significant experience in building capital models and/or developing capital modelling methodology, as well as Solvency II/Solvency UK requirements, either ‘in-house' at an insurer or in consulting

  • Experience of planning projects and track record of delivering quality work on schedule

  • Excellent consulting skills and proven record of achievement and delivery

  • Flexible in approach and comfortable with working in a changing environment

  • Proven ability to manage multiple and sometimes conflicting demands

  • Strong personal values, including a commitment to professional and ethical behaviour

  • Collegiate worker with high emotional intelligence, able to quickly establish good working relationships with colleagues



They are looking for a dynamic colleague with a deep understanding or working knowledge in one or more of the following:



  • Capital modelling, including Solvency II Internal Models or other Economic Capital models

  • Internal Model validation

  • Solvency II/UK requirements

  • Matching Adjustment applications and/or managing MA portfolios

  • Risk frameworks and risk appetite setting for insurers

  • Stress and scenario testing

  • Wider UK insurance regulatory environment and PRA agenda.



Other Experience and Qualifications



  • Strategic business acumen and knowledge of risks facing the insurance industry, which will have been acquired in an ‘in-house' or consultancy role

  • Sound grounding in actuarial techniques and strong IT skills

  • Dependent on experience, but candidates are likely to be qualified UK actuaries with proven, relevant post-qualification experience, or hold another professional investment or quantitative risk qualification.

  • Proven commitment to continuous professional development

  • Providing high quality support and advice to our insurance and reinsurance clients both in the UK and globally

  • Delivering to clients as a subject matter expert in the key areas of your experience

  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, building a strong network of contacts in the life insurance industry

  • Identifying and developing further consultancy opportunities with new and existing clients

  • Collaborating across the business, particularly with our investment and risk transfer specialists in the firm, to deliver on cross-practice projects

  • Developing their digital toolkit to enhance their consulting proposition

  • Helping to promote their insurance offerings to a wider audience, including presenting at conferences and producing thought leadership

  • Developing and shaping new propositions to take to clients and prospects
