Mechanical Design Engineer

Insignis Talent are currently working with market leader who specialise in the complete design, manufacture and testing of Formula 1 Power Units, who are currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team on a 6-month contract basis.
The successful applicant will be required to deliver engineering excellence from concept, through prove-out, to race introduction, working closely with other departments to ensure right first time, every time.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver engineering solutions considering material selection, manufacturability, heat treatment, surface finish, and geometrical tolerancing.


• Innovate and implement solutions to challenging problems, ensuring robust and reliable performance.


• Utilize 3D CAD design software and key simulation/analysis packages for design and validation.


• Design highly loaded mechanical components and systems, ensuring durability and efficiency.


• Operate effectively in a high-pressure, engineering-led environment.

Skills and Experience:

• Proficiency in 3D CAD design software (preferably CATIA or Siemens NX) and key simulation/analysis packages.


• Proven experience in designing highly loaded mechanical components and systems.


• Strong understanding of internal combustion engines and energy recovery systems.


• Experience in a challenging mechanical engineering role, demonstrating technical excellence and problem-solving abilities.

Please note, due to the quick project turnarounds and timescales, the successful candidate will be required to be onsite, fulltime.
