Housing Litigation Lawyer

Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting on behalf of a London Borough Council who are seeking a Housing Litigation Lawyer to join the team on a contract basis.

ROLE: Housing Litigation Lawyer
RATE: £290 to £370 per day LTD (DOE, PQE and interview performance)
LOCATION: East London
CONTRACT: Initial 3 months with scope for extension, 36 hours per week


Please note this role would be hybrid working.


Key Responsibilities



  • Caseload Management - Take personal responsibility for a diverse caseload while proactively notifying the Senior Lawyer about any high-risk matters.

  • Support Provision - Assist with casework during peak times or as needed to meet team demands and provide support to other teams upon request from the Principal Lawyer.

  • Project Support - Collaborate on strategic projects across multi-functional teams, focusing on innovative and commercial solutions.

  • Team Oversight - Supervise support staff to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in handling legal processes.

  • Advocacy - Conduct advocacy on your caseload without external instruction unless in accordance with established procedures.

  • Council Engagement - Attend meetings of the Councils to provide legal and governance advice and contribute to the creation and review of reports for decision-making processes.

  • Flexible Availability - Be willing to work evenings, weekends, and occasional public holidays to meet the service requirements of our stakeholders.

  • Legal Compliance - Ensure that the partner Councils receive the highest quality legal advice, facilitating propriety in decision-making.


Requirements



  • Proven experience in legal practice with a strong understanding of the relevant legal frameworks.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly in a governance context.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

  • Demonstrated experience in providing legal advice and support on various matters.

  • Flexibility to work outside standard hours as needed.
