Project Manager – Groundworks / Civils (Contract)

Location: Stradishall / Newmarket, Suffolk (CB8 area)
Rate: £425 – £450 per day
Duration: 14 months
Hours: 7:30am – 5:30pm
Start: ASAP / After Notice

Role Overview

On behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join a major construction project near Newmarket, delivering a significant groundworks and civils package.

There is approximately £6m of work remaining on a £20m package, with around 60 weeks left on the programme.

The scope of works includes drainage, services, hard landscaping and a small amount of reinforced concrete works.

The successful candidate will work alongside an existing Site Manager and Engineer and will take overall responsibility for managing site delivery, safety, and coordination with commercial and contracts teams.


Key Responsibilities


  • Work alongside the Site Manager and Engineer to deliver the works safely and to programme


  • Take overall accountability for Health & Safety on site and ensure all paperwork, RAMS and permits are in place and followed


  • Liaise with Tier 1 contractors and key stakeholders


  • Manage and administer NEC contracts alongside the Project QS and Contracts Manager


  • Prepare monthly labour and plant lookaheads in line with the updated programme


  • Monitor progress, productivity and quality of works


  • Ensure works are delivered within programme and budget



Candidate Requirements


  • Proven experience as a Project Manager on groundworks and civils projects


  • Strong background in drainage, services, infrastructure and hard landscaping


  • Experience administering NEC contracts (NEC3 / NEC4)


  • Excellent communication and organisational skills


  • SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid preferred


  • Must be able to work CIS (no Ltd companies)


  • Right to work in the UK
