Locality Social Worker

A Local Authority is looking for a Social Worker for their Locality Team in South Wales.

This is a permanent and full-time position that is hybrid working.




You must have a Diploma/Degree in Social Work and have the right to work in the UK (no VISA sponsorship available)




About the team



The service has been redesigned to follow the child's journey, with locality teams based across the region allowing practitioners to work closely with communities and local services.

The teams work from a strengths-based and restorative practice model, following the Signs of Safety framework to ensure children and young people remain safe while supporting families to achieve positive outcomes together.

They have created a strong culture of learning, support and progression, with regular supervision, accessible senior management and a clear pathway for career development.

The authority is also proud to be the first UNICEF Child Friendly City in the UK, with children's rights at the centre of its services and long-term planning.



About the job




  • Managing a varied caseload within Safeguarding & Child Protection / Children Looked After services

  • Completing robust assessments, outcome-focused planning and direct interventions

  • Working within a restorative and strengths-based practice approach

  • Supporting children and young people to remain safely within their families and communities wherever possible

  • Undertaking child protection and safeguarding investigations

  • Preparing concise records and reports for court proceedings where required

  • Working closely with multi-agency professionals and local services

  • Building effective relationships with children, families and carers

  • Contributing to care planning and reviewing outcomes regularly

  • Participating in team meetings, supervision and wider service development



About you



The successful candidate will have a social work degree with post qualification experience in Frontline Children's Social Work whilst having an up-to-date understanding of relevant legislation.

You must be registered with Social Care Wales

  • Salary of £40,777 to £45,091 dependant on experience

  • £5,000 market supplement per annum paid monthly
