Production Engineer

Our client, a well-established electronics manufacturing services provider, is looking for a Production Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis in Berkshire.



This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing electronics manufacturing business operating from a modern facility, supporting the introduction and manufacture of high-quality electronic assemblies for customers across a wide range of industrial sectors.

Working closely with Production, Quality, Purchasing and Sales, you will play a key role in supporting new product introduction (NPI), improving manufacturing processes, and driving continuous improvement across the business.



Key responsibilities of the Production Engineer job in Berkshire:




  • Prepare build procedures, build packs, and associated production documentation to support kit release.

  • Create and maintain SMT machine programmes for new and existing products.

  • Generate AOI programme data to support efficient inspection processes.

  • Develop and maintain selective soldering programmes.

  • Create and review X-ray inspection programmes where required.

  • Investigate manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for quality and process improvements.

  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities and ensure a smooth transition into production.

  • Work with customers and suppliers to resolve technical and production-related issues.

  • Evaluate supplier solutions to improve manufacturing efficiency and capability.

  • Support maintenance, calibration, and quality activities across the manufacturing operation.

  • Assist with customer returns investigations and root cause analysis.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, consistency, and manufacturing performance.



Experience required for the Production Engineer job in Berkshire:




  • Experience in a Production Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Process Engineer, or similar electronics manufacturing role.

  • Good knowledge of PCB assembly processes, including SMT and THT.

  • Basic understanding of PCB technologies and electronic manufacturing processes.

  • Experience supporting electronic production test processes.

  • Understanding of mechanical assembly processes; cable assembly knowledge would be advantageous.

  • Experience interpreting customer Bills of Materials (BOMs), Gerber data, and assembly drawings.

  • Experience with SMT programming, AOI programming, selective soldering, and/or X-ray inspection would be highly desirable.

  • Knowledge of IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, and/or IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards would be advantageous.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.

  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook and Excel, with the ability to learn specialist manufacturing software.

  • Strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail, and a continuous improvement mindset.
