Senior Legal Counsel - Day Rate Contractor

Job Description:

We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join a growing financial services business on a minimum 4-month day-rate contract basis.



The role involves providing commercially focused legal advice across a broad range of matters, work closely with senior stakeholders and take ownership of key strategic and commercial projects.



The role offers remote working within the UK, and full-time or part-time hours can be considered.



Skills/Experience:

  • Qualified solicitor with strong experience in commercial legal matters.

  • Strong understanding of general commercial legal principles.

  • Experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts.

  • Ability to manage a varied workload independently and prioritise competing demands.

  • Knowledge of FCA requirements, particularly in relation to outsourcing and operational resilience.

  • Experience across corporate law, disputes/litigation or data protection.

  • Experience working closely with Procurement teams.



Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic and commercially focused legal advice across a broad range of matters, including complex or specialist areas.

  • Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts and high-value agreements.

  • Work closely with Procurement and other key stakeholders to develop and embed effective contracting processes and internal precedents.

  • Identify, assess and manage legal and commercial risks, recommending appropriate mitigation where required.

  • Support corporate governance matters and, where appropriate, corporate transactions.

  • Manage contractual disputes and contentious matters, depending on experience.

  • Develop strong relationships with senior stakeholders and act as a trusted legal adviser to the wider business.

  • Work with external counsel on key projects where required.

  • Provide guidance and support to junior members of the legal team where appropriate.
