Trade Plate Driver
Are you looking for a flexible way to earn without committing to a traditional employed role?
If you enjoy driving, working independently and having variety in your day, Trade Plate driving could be a great fit.
You will need access to a driveway or suitable off-road parking space, as you may take a vehicle home in the evening to deliver to the customer the following day.
Intertechnic Logistics is looking for reliable self-employed Trade Plate Drivers to collect and deliver vehicles across the UK.
Full or part-time opportunities available.
Full time would be Monday to Friday and part time would be a minimum of 3 consecutive working days each week.
You'll be working with Intertechnic Logistics, an established vehicle movements business with more than 29 years' experience in the industry.
Why Consider Trade Plate Driving?
This isn't a traditional employed driving role.
You'll work independently, travel to different locations, drive a wide variety of vehicles and have plenty of freedom in how you organise your journeys.
Between vehicle movements, most drivers use trains and buses, with reasonable public transport expenses reimbursed.
Some drivers find more creative ways to travel, including folding bikes or even running shorter sections of their journey to keep fit, reduce waiting time and save on transport.
What Intertechnic Provides
To support you with your daily vehicle movements, we provide:
- Full insurance cover
- Trade plates
- Fuel card
- Tablet for completing vehicle appraisals and logging movements
- Professional and experienced allocator support
- Reasonable public transport expenses
- Minibus and hire-car support where required
What Does Trade Plate Driving Involve?
You'll collect and deliver new and used vehicles between locations across the country, including:
Dealerships, auction sites, vehicle compounds, hire companies, businesses and private customers.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning your journeys
- Completing detailed and accurate vehicle appraisals
- Collecting and delivering vehicles promptly
- Carrying out professional customer handovers
- Completing sign-off documentation and supporting paperwork
- Full-time drivers typically complete around two vehicle movements per day, equating to approximately ten movements across a five-day working week.
What You'll Need
- A Full UK Driving Licence held for at least 6 years
- No more than 6 active penalty points
- No TT99, DR, DD, CD or IN driving codes
- Access to a driveway or suitable off-road parking space, as you may occasionally take a vehicle home in the evening for delivery the following day
- The patience and resourcefulness to adapt when journeys don't quite go to plan
- Previous professional driving experience can be useful but isn't limited to Trade Plate driving.
The role may suit people who have worked as a Car Rental Driver, Vehicle Service Agent, Fleet Driver, Auction Driver, Chauffeur, Professional Driver, Taxi Driver, Private Hire Driver, Courier Driver, Multi-Drop Driver, Vehicle Appraiser or Vehicle Inspector.
Is Trade Plate Driving Right for You?
Trade Plate driving isn't a traditional 9–5 role.
A working day can typically span around 10–12 hours, and finishing times can vary depending on vehicle collections, deliveries, traffic and public transport connections.
You'll therefore need to be flexible and comfortable with early starts and unpredictable finishing times.
For people who enjoy independence, driving and variety, however, it can offer a very different working lifestyle from a conventional employed driving position.
Drivers are paid:
- £20 for the first 50 miles of every individual journey
- 24p per mile thereafter
- 25p per mile after 3 months' service
- 26p per mile after 6 months' service
- 27p per mile after 12 months' service
- You are paid weekly every Friday with public transport reimbursed paid a week in arrears
Actual earnings will depend on the number and mileage of vehicle movements completed.
Bonuses:
- Customer Service Bonus £50
- Referral programme (for more information, ask at interview)
- Paid waiting time for EV charging etc.
£15 per hour
