Head Barista – Specialty Coffee – £15 per hour + Service Charge
Contract: 45 hours per week
Role: Full-time

We’re looking for an experienced Head Barista to take ownership of the coffee operation within a premium, quality-focused environment.

This is a hands-on role for someone who has a genuine understanding of specialty coffee and the technical knowledge to consistently deliver exceptional coffee, while also leading and developing a team.

You’ll be responsible for maintaining high standards behind the bar, ensuring consistency throughout service and helping to continuously improve the overall coffee offering.

The role:

• Leading the bar team during service and setting the standard for coffee quality
• Dialling in espresso and managing grinder calibration and recipes throughout the day
• Ensuring consistency across espresso, milk-based drinks and filter coffee
• Preparing and overseeing V60 and other manual brewing methods
• Understanding extraction and adjusting grind, dose, yield, temperature and brew time when required
• Training and supporting baristas to improve their technical coffee skills
• Maintaining high standards of latte art and milk preparation
• Carrying out regular coffee quality checks throughout service
• Managing coffee, bar and retail stock, including ordering and monitoring usage
• Keeping wastage under control and ensuring stock levels are well managed
• Maintaining an exceptionally clean, organised and well-presented coffee station
• Ensuring coffee equipment is correctly cared for and maintained
• Supporting opening and closing routines and ensuring the bar is fully prepared for service
• Working alongside management on new drinks, seasonal menus and development of the coffee programme
• Leading by example during busy services and helping create a professional, positive team environment

What we’re looking for:

• Strong practical knowledge of specialty coffee
• Excellent espresso preparation and grinder calibration skills
• Confident V60 and manual brewing experience
• A solid understanding of extraction, brew ratios, grind size and water temperature
• Knowledge of different coffee origins and processing methods
• Strong milk-steaming and latte art skills
• Experience training, coaching or developing other baristas
• Good understanding of stock control, ordering and day-to-day bar operations
• A strong eye for detail and a genuine commitment to consistency
• A passion for quality coffee and excellent hospitality
• The confidence to take ownership and make decisions during service
