Electrical Technician

The main focus of this role is to support the Electrical department in maintaining and enhancing all site-wide electrical, instrumentation, and process control equipment.

Ensure the seamless operation of the Engineering and Production departments through effective planned and reactive maintenance activities, contributing to uninterrupted production capabilities.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Perform routine and emergency maintenance on electrical and control equipment.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues quickly to keep production running smoothly.

  • Update and maintain hardware and software for control systems.

  • Install and upgrade electrical and process control equipment to improve performance.

  • Diagnose and fix complex engineering issues with team support.

  • Recommend and implement improvements for better productivity and efficiency.

  • Assist with installing and commissioning new equipment.

  • Keep detailed maintenance records and identify follow-up tasks.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.

  • Participate in performance reviews and training programs.

  • Follow all company policies and safety regulations.

  • Supervise and direct contractors as needed.

  • Provide on-call support for after-hours emergencies.


Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:



  • BTEC ONC/HNC in Electrical Engineering or Electronics, or equivalent qualification.

  • Electrical/Instrumentation apprenticeship or equivalent, including electrical qualification to at least C&G/NVQ standard, alongside a formal engineering background.

  • Demonstrable competence with Rockwell/Allen Bradley PLC and SCADA.

  • Excellent fault-finding and diagnostics skills on process control field equipment.

  • Relevant certification and working knowledge of Engineering regulations (e.g., BS7671:2018).

  • Experience in a continuous production environment.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • AC and DC variable speed drive experience.

  • Willingness to undergo relevant training to meet business needs.

  • Sound knowledge of current Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations.

  • Competent with Microsoft Office 365; additional IT experience is advantageous.
