Senior Estimator

An established structural steel fabrication company based in Staffordshire is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join their team immediately.

• Package: £75-80k, pension, 21 days holiday, free parking


• Hybrid Option: Up to 1 day per week


• Working Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM or 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM


• Value of Packages Estimating: £1-15 million

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare tenders for structural steel and cladding projects.


• Analyze tender documents, including drawings, specifications, and bills of quantities.


• Source and evaluate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.


• Communicate effectively with design teams, main contractors, and clients.


• Lead project bids and contribute to building a strong, cohesive team.


• Assist in training junior estimators and mentoring team members.


• Attend tender meetings and cultivate strong client relationships.


• Verify all work elements and identify potential value engineering opportunities.


• Manage tender documentation and ensure accurate cost estimations.


• Prepare project budgets and handover documentation.


• Proficient use of Excel and Word; experience with Navisworks and Tekla is an advantage.


• Visit sites to assess conditions and prepare proposals.


• Engage with clients and contractors to secure orders.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in structural steel estimating.


• Experience with multi-story projects is essential.


• Background in projects beyond portal frame buildings, such as logistics, storage structures, data centers, power stations, pharmaceutical, and food/drink buildings.


• Familiarity with the UK steel construction industry is preferred.


• Strong numerical, analytical, and communication skills.


• Demonstrated leadership abilities and attention to detail.


• Excellent organizational and negotiation skills.
