Systems Engineer

Our client, a well-established technology business specialising in electronic and embedded systems, are looking for a Systems Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis.



This is a multidisciplinary engineering role focused on the development of application-specific embedded products, working across firmware, electronics and mechanical hardware to ensure systems meet customer requirements and deliver reliable, efficient and secure solutions.



Key responsibilities of the Systems Engineer job based in Lymington:



  • Support the definition of overall embedded system architecture, considering performance, scalability and power efficiency.

  • Interpret user and customer needs and translate them into clear technical system requirements.

  • Define and negotiate requirements for firmware, electronic and mechanical hardware development.

  • Work closely with Product Management, Sales and other stakeholders to establish and communicate technical requirements.

  • Collaborate with software, electronics and mechanical engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle.

  • Support the integration of hardware and software components to ensure complete system functionality.

  • Develop and execute system-level test and validation plans.

  • Troubleshoot and debug embedded systems to identify and resolve technical issues.

  • Ensure systems meet defined performance, reliability and security requirements.

  • Produce and maintain comprehensive technical documentation covering system design, functionality and requirements.



Experience required for the Systems Engineer job based in Lymington:



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related engineering discipline.

  • Experience working with embedded systems and application-specific electronic products.

  • Proficiency in C and C++ programming languages.

  • Knowledge of modern operating system concepts, IP protocols and hardware interfaces.

  • Understanding of electronics and PCB design, with experience using relevant design or EDA tools.

  • Experience with embedded systems debugging tools and techniques.

  • Strong understanding of system-level development, integration, testing and validation.

  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.

  • Ability to translate customer and user requirements into practical technical solutions.
