Mechanical Design Engineer

Our client, a fast-growing engineering business specialising in advanced automation and machinery solutions, are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer in County Louth to join their team on a permanent basis.

This is a hands-on design role focused on developing automated equipment and mechatronic machinery, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams from initial concept through to project delivery.

Key responsibilities of the Mechanical Design Engineer job in County Louth:

• Design and develop automated equipment to meet customer requirements


• Own mechanical design elements from concept through to project delivery


• Produce 2D and 3D designs and detailed drawings using SolidWorks


• Design mechatronic equipment including mechanisms, transfer systems, servo systems, robotics, pneumatics and machine guarding


• Review customer requirements and ensure designs meet project specifications


• Manage technical documentation and design change control


• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering and project teams


• Plan and prioritise work across multiple projects


• Support problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives


• Ensure designs and processes comply with ISO9001 and relevant quality standards

Experience required for the Mechanical Design Engineer job in County Louth:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Automation, Electrical, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline


• Experience in machine design


• Strong experience designing automated machinery and mechatronic systems


• Proficiency with SolidWorks and 2D/3D mechanical design


• Good understanding of automation principles and engineering processes


• Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams


• Knowledge of robotics and machinery safety standards desirable


• Strong problem-solving, communication and organisational skills


• Confident, professional and ambitious approach


• Experience with Rockwell, Siemens or other automation platforms desirable
