Senior Data and Operations Analyst - Private Companies

Job Description:

Our client is looking to appoint a Senior Data and Analytics Specialist to strengthen its business through high-quality data, analytics and management information across the investment lifecycle, while also supporting operational elements of deal flow.

This is a hands-on role responsible for the quality and usability of data within the team, maintaining and developing its analytical and reporting capability and providing insights to support decision-making.

You will work across financial information, valuations, investment activity and administration data, along with client and prospect reporting, and help colleagues turn data into clear, actionable insight.

You will also own the development of the deal management process, establishing a consistent approach to capturing, tracking and analysing deal activity from initial opportunity through to execution.

Skills/Experience:

  • Strong experience as a data analyst, business intelligence analyst or in a comparable analytical role.

  • Strong Power BI capability, including dashboard development and management reporting.

  • Strong analytical skills and experience working with complex financial datasets.

  • Strong business intelligence capability, including dashboard development and management reporting.

  • Experience reconciling multiple data sources and investigating data-quality issues.

  • Ability to turn data into clear conclusions, insights and recommendations.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and enthusiasm for developing practical solutions.

  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to work effectively across teams and manage competing priorities.

  • Ability to understand stakeholder needs and translate business questions into useful analysis.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

  • Commercial curiosity and a practical approach to problem-solving, with the ability to take ownership of data and reporting.

  • Adaptability, data literacy, systems thinking and digital effectiveness.

  • Experience using SQL or similar data tools would be an advantage.

  • Experience translating business needs into clear data requirements and priorities would be an advantage.

  • An interest in the practical application of AI to investment data and analysis would be an advantage.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Take day-to-day responsibility for the quality, completeness and usability of key datasets.

  • Monitor data completeness and consistency across systems, ensuring material gaps or discrepancies are identified and resolved.

  • Reconcile information from different systems and third-party sources where required.

  • Build, maintain and improve dashboards covering areas such as performance, valuations, investment activity and deal flow.

  • Improve the efficiency and consistency of client and prospect data requests.

  • Improve reporting processes by replacing manual and fragmented activity with repeatable, automated and controlled solutions.

  • Support recurring and ad hoc information requirements across the team.

  • Use data to identify trends, risks and opportunities relevant to decision-makers, providing insight and interpretation rather than simply producing management information.

  • Work with colleagues to translate business questions into useful analysis, presenting findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Build and maintain the data and reporting layer of the deal management process, giving clear visibility of activity from initial opportunity through to completion.

  • Ensure transactions and corporate actions are accurately captured in relevant systems and records.

  • Improve reconciliation of investment, transaction and fund-level data against third-party records.

  • Ensure the data environment is scalable for new structures, distribution channels and reporting requirements.

  • Develop practical solutions to inefficient or fragmented processes, exploring appropriate uses of automation and AI.

  • Work with technology and data teams where changes to underlying systems or data platforms are required.
