Director of Medicinal Chemistry

We are currently looking for a Medicinal Chemistry Director to join a leading Pharmaceutical Drug Discovery company based in East England.

As the Medicinal Chemistry Director you will be responsible for the wider chemistry departments and have a direct impact on technology development by applying your innovative approach and scientific knowledge on various portfolio projects.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your duties as the Medicinal Chemistry Director will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1.

You will focus on structure-based drug design and update synthesis methodologies and manage / consult large teams providing leadership on target validation and lead optimisation stages.

2.

You will apply your expert Medicinal Chemistry and DMPK knowledge in the drug discovery field to continuously lead drug discovery project teams and deliver high quality compounds to clinical trials.



3.

You will collaborate with different teams (structural biology, translational bioscience, computational), manage scientific collaborations, identify clinical candidates, and manage CRO outsourcing activities.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Medicinal Chemistry Director we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1.

Relevant degree in a Chemistry Discipline

2.

Proven industry experience working in the Drug Discovery space with a proven Medicinal Chemistry track record

3.

A working knowledge and practical experience leading drug discovery project teams, and experience with neuroscience or transmembrane targets would be desirable.
