About the role/school

Teach Plus are seeking a passionate and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming, non-denominational community primary school in the London Borough of Barnet.

Catering for boys and girls aged 2-11, the school has around 700-750 pupils, including nursery and early years classes.

It also provides a resourced provision for children with physical disabilities.


This diverse and inclusive setting serves a culturally and linguistically varied community, where many pupils speak English as an additional language.

The school places a strong emphasis on inclusion, equality, and supporting every child to reach their full potential.

Job Responsibilities

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:




  • Provide 1:1 and group support for pupils with a range of special educational needs.




  • Work alongside teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals to deliver tailored interventions.




  • Adapt learning materials and activities to ensure accessibility and progress for all pupils.




  • Support pupils with physical disabilities and additional learning needs within the resourced provision.




  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes equality and achievement.




The role of SEN Teaching Assistant is key to ensuring that children feel supported, valued, and able to reach their potential both academically and socially.


Qualifications/Experience

To succeed as an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will need:




  • Previous experience working with children with SEN, ideally in a primary setting.




  • A caring and adaptable approach, with patience and resilience.




  • Confidence supporting children with a range of needs, including physical disabilities, autism, and speech & language difficulties.




  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.




  • Enhanced DBS Certificate with the Update Service




  • Right to work in the UK
