Design Manager

A leading structural steel and architectural metalwork specialist based in Oxfordshire is currently seeking a permanent Design Manager to take full operational ownership of the design department, ensuring all structural steel and architectural metalwork packages are delivered accurately and on schedule.

Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 per annum
Hours: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM (Monday - Friday)

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage a team of three structural/architectural designers.


• Oversee the production of 3D models and fabrication drawings.


• Coordinate with the internal production and project management teams to ensure design feasibility.


• Manage the design schedule and resource allocation to meet project milestones.


• Act as the technical point of contact for clients, engineers, and main contractors.


• Drive quality standards and technical excellence across all design outputs.


• (Note: No site surveys are required for this role).

Requirements:

• Proven experience in a Design Management or Senior Draughtsman role within the steelwork sector.


• Strong technical background in both structural steel and architectural metalwork (stairs, balustrades, etc.).


• Experience managing or mentoring a team of designers.


• Proficiency in 3D detailing software (Tekla or Advance Steel preferred, but any platform background considered).


• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
