Early Year Sufficiency And Market Development Consultant

We are seeking a Early Years Sufficiency and Market Development Consultant to join a supportive team at Staffordshire County Council.


About the Role:


In this crucial role, you will play a key part in ensuring our local authority fulfils its statutory duty to provide sufficient Early Years and childcare places.

You'll be a trusted advisor and support system for existing and prospective childcare providers across various settings, including childminders, schools, academies, and private, voluntary, and independent settings.


Pay: £16.26 per hour


Location: Staffordshire Place + Hybrid Working with majority of work carried out at home


Contract: 9-Month contract + ongoing


What you'll do:



  • Conduct in-depth research to gain a comprehensive understanding of the local Early Years and Childcare market.

  • Collaborate with childcare providers to develop and implement effective business plans and strategies that meet local demand, including potential expansion plans.

  • Offer guidance and support on promotional marketing strategies to help childcare providers attract families and ensure business viability.

  • Assist providers in reviewing their governance models and recommend the most appropriate structure for their operation.

  • Facilitate the twice-yearly Early Years sufficiency audit data collection process.

  • Analyse data at district and ward level to inform the creation of action plans that guarantee sufficient childcare places across the county.

  • Advise existing and new providers on how to ensure their premises meet Ofsted registration requirements and support the delivery of high-quality childcare.


What you need:



  • Hold a degree in Early Years and Childcare or Business (or a relevant equivalent).

  • Possess a strong understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory requirements.

  • Have demonstrable experience providing advice, guidance, and support to others.

  • Excellent communicator with exceptional verbal, listening, and interpersonal skills.

  • Deep understanding of sufficiency and market development planning for creating sustainable childcare provision.

  • Prior experience within the Early Years and childcare sector, particularly the business aspects, with up-to-date knowledge of current trends and regulations.

  • Adept at interpreting and analysing statistical data to draw meaningful insights.
