Steel Site Manager

Site Manager with steel experience needed in Hinkley.

What's the role all about?
This is an exciting opportunity for a Construction Site Manager to management of all construction activities on a very prestigious project in Hinkley.


You will be responsible for ensure the successful delivery in terms of full contractual compliance, client satisfaction, and optimal efficiency, whilst adopting industry leading standards of quality and achieving no reportable HS&E events.


You will be regularly reviewing site planning and performance with the Construction Manager and Project Manager and identifying opportunities to continuously optimise the project outcomes.


With an ambitious order book ahead of us we are looking for an individual who can hit the ground running and support us by delivering the construction plan which involved coordinating daily activities with our site team, subcontractors and suppliers.


Safety and Quality are our key priorities so compliance with documented quality and SHE programme requirements essential, whilst adopting the safest methods of working and creating no adverse impact to the environment.
Some of the responsibilities of this role include:



  • Reviewing the contents of the Construction Plan (CP) and Site Management Plan (SMP) to fully understand the basis of pre-planning activities, including evolution of the tender, basis of contract award, site constraints, proposed erection methodology, lifting plan, contract programme, budget preparation, risks and opportunities and any other information useful to the successful implementation and delivery of the project.

  • Ensuring appropriate site inductions for new site team members, including subcontractors' personnel e.g.

    construction method statements, site specific details and orientation, emergency procedures etc.

  • Assisting with the procurement of subcontractors, if mobilised to the project in time.

  • Identifying site requirements for all labour, plant, equipment (including rental) and materials outside the scope of the various subcontracts, to ensure that these items are procured and managed in the most cost-effective way.

  • Managing project scope, time and cost, promptly identifying and communicating any changes to the Project Manager.

  • Directing, supervising and mentoring the Site Team and subcontractors to complete the project within the allocated time, to the specified quality requirements and on (or preferably under) budget.

  • Ensuring that all plant and equipment arriving on site has valid insurance (as applicable) and current certification for its intended use.

  • Managing all construction staff assigned to the project and ensuring that each member of the Site Team is carrying out and accountable for their assigned duties and responsibilities.

  • Maintaining communication and good working relationships with site personnel of other project parties including the Client.


What are we looking for:



  • General education with a significant level of experience working in construction environments, managing Structural Steelwork Erection is essential.

  • Must also have: Min NVQ Level/CSCS card - Black preferred, SSSTS/SMSTS card, CPCS Crane supervisor.
