Maintenance Engineer
Location: Plymouth
Salary: Including shift: £39,600 - £42,600 Job Type: Permanent
About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our clients team, and support site production facilities through planned and unplanned maintenance of plant, equipment, and services.
This role involves diagnosing problems, ensuring safe working practices, and maintaining clear communication with suppliers and on-site personnel.
Key Responsibilities include:
Work with production staff to provide breakdown support in line with production priorities
Ensure risk assessments are carried out prior to work and reassessed if conditions change
Maintain good communication with production staff for updates on breakdowns and machine release
Communicate effectively between outgoing and incoming maintenance shifts
Act as a mentor when working with apprentices or new starters
Breakdown repair of existing plant and machinery
Installation and relocation of new and existing machinery
Assist with machinery moves
Implement and support TPM/PPM across the site
Fully participate in production support activities
Electronic record keeping of machine repair details and stock
Identify repeat problems and assist in corrective actions to remove the cause
Advise on maintenance spares holdings
Respond to breakdowns promptly as per production priorities
Ensure PPM activities are carried out within scheduled times and arrange machine release if required
Risk assessment of all work tasks and contractor inductions
Fault finding using Fanuc CNC controls and PLC ladder diagrams
Be proactive in identifying hazards and supporting removal of hazards identified by others
Recommend spares holdings
Authority to stop a machine or process if it poses a health and safety risk
Essential Skills & Experience:
Completed Maintenance Apprenticeship
Relevant academic qualifications
Experience with CNC machine tools
Fully experienced with Fanuc control systems
PC literate and risk assessment trained
Strong communication skills

About the Role
We are seeking a Product Development Engineer to join our clients established Product Development Team
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the design, development, and testing of innovative hydraulic products used across industrial, construction, agricultural, and marine applications.
Working on site in Plymouth, you'll enjoy flexibility on start and finish times, and the potential to work from home one day a week following successful completion of probation.
Key Responsibilities
Support the design and development of new hydraulic components and systems.
Undertake testing, validation, and analysis to ensure performance and reliability.
Collaborate with global engineering teams to integrate world-class R&D into new products.
Provide technical input during all stages of product lifecycle — from concept through to production.
Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation within the Product Development function.
Occasional UK and international travel to customers and suppliers as required.
About You

Essential skills & qualities:
Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering (or related discipline).

The successful candidate will be responsible for preventative maintenance as well as responding to emergency machine break downs throughout the plant.

JOB REQUIREMENTS KEY RESPONSBILITIES Annualised Hours Pattern
* Core work hours are Monday to Friday 7am - 3pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break (equating to 37.5 hours per week).
Whilst working the Maintenance shift pattern, you are paid to work the following shifts below each year: -10 Weeks of Back Shifts (1 in 5) - 3pm - 11pm (with a 30-minute unpaid break) - 5 Weeks of Night Shifts (1 in 10) - 11pm - 7am (with a 30-minute unpaid break) - 10 Weekends - Saturday 7am - 3pm and Sunday 7am - 3pm
* (with a 30-minute unpaid break).
Where you are rostered to work the weekend, you will be allocated 2 ‘off days' as your rest days mid-week.
- Bank Holidays - You are required to work any bank holidays that fall immediately before and/or after your duty weekend shift.
You will be given the relevant number of days worked on bank holidays back in lieu to be taken at a time agreed with your Team Leader.
Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day bank holidays will be covered on a voluntary basis, as patrol only.
